THE STRUCTURALIST & POST STRUCTURALIST AUTHOR LECTURE
MY NOTES:

STRUCTURALISM:
Philosophy movement started in the late 1800's-19060's in Europe. It focuses on society as a system. Different relations are the key to understanding culture and society. The movement focuses on material practices as points for analysis as our relationship changes with technology (machines). Theres a process, which is a beginning, middle and a end. We see things by understanding the difference, things are made and then is acted upon.

MY NOTES:

There's many different types of print, static, fixed, linear and unidirectional communication. Print production is a relay. It's about information coming out and going back in, it's how people function. The internet is always about social media.

This quote stuck out to me quite a bit from the lectures because to me this just explains to me what the future is about and what the future is turning into. To me, this quote is showing me that the world is evolving and that theres better ideas coming out into the world. A example of this new media is a website called Newspaper Club, which allows you print in the most fastest and clean way.
‘Commonly our struggle is falsely framed as one single clean transition. There, Old Media, reeking of ink and celluloid – here, New Media, fast, clean, interactive.’

MY NOTES:

As we have discovered, the nature of digital media is malleable and theres many directions to it. However from this lecture I have learnt more about interaction in better depth. Interaction is one of the most fundamental human processes. With interaction you can be as technical as possible. But interaction doesn't mean interpretation. There's so many choices that interaction can offer to a human and one of them is to have a choice in what you want to do.
INTERACTION COME IN ANY FORMS SUCH AS STORIES, GAMES E.T.C
When I was doing some research of my own, I managed to come across this quote and this to me explains interaction very well.
“When a player makes a choice in a game, the systems responds in some way. The relationship between the player’s choice and the system’s response is one way of characterising the depth and quality of interaction.” Rules of Play: Game Design Fundamentals, p61.
